Print to PDF
Important! Embed fonts to ensure all fonts print to pdf.

Instructions
Word is used as the example in the instructions.

~Note: To ensure easy filing, name the original document according to the listed document event. 

  1. Open the original document (WordPerfect, Word, Petition Software, WebPages, etc.) 
    bullet point marker ~Note: Ensure that signatures lines have been signed (/s/ name).
    bullet point marker If you have any questions regarding Petition Software contact the software vendor.
  2. Print to PDF
    1. Click on "File" on the application's menu bar.
    2. Click on "Print" from the drop down menu. The "Print Dialog Box" appears.
    3. Select "Acrobat PDF Writer" as current printer selection and press the Print button. The "Save PDF File As" screen appears.
    4. Name your PDF file.
    5. Choose the appropriate directory by clicking in your Save in: window 
    6. Click on the save button to print and save to PDF.
  3. Print a copy of the document for original signatures. ~Note: For WebPages, print copy if not printed to PDF.
  4. Keep original signed document at your office.

    Scan to graphic and Print to PDF

    Instructions

    1. Scan the document as usual and save as a graphic (.tif, .gif., .jpg, etc.)
    2. Open the graphic.
    3. Print to PDF
      1. Click on "File" on the application's menu bar.
      2. Click on "Print" from the drop down menu. The "Print Dialog Box" appears.
      3. Select "Acrobat PDF Writer" as your printer selection and press the OK button. The "Save PDF As" screen appears.
      4. Name your PDF file.
      5. Save the PDF file in a directory, such as "C:", "A: (Floppy)" drive. 
      6. Click on the OK button to print and save.

    Scan to PDF

    Instructions

    1. Place document onto scanner. ~Note: Ensure original signatures are on document, if applicable.
    2. Open  Adobe Acrobat Exchange.
      1. Click on "File" on the menu bar.
      2. Click on "Export" from the drop down menu and scan. 
      3. Name your PDF file.
      4. Save the PDF file in a directory, such as "C:", "A: (Floppy)" drives. 
      5. Click on the OK button to print and save.

    Insert PDF Pages

    Instructions:

    1. Open existing PDF file
      1. Access Adobe Acrobat and locate the PDF file which you want to insert more PDF pages to.
      2. Note page in which you want to insert PDFpage (before or after). 
    2. Insert PDF files (other pages)
      1. Click on  "Document" on the Adobe Acrobat menu
      2. Click on "Insert Pages" from the drop down menu. The "Select File To Insert" window appears.
      3. Locate and select the PDF file from your directory.
      4. Click on the "Select" button. The "Insert Pages" window appears.
      5. Indicate the location (before, after, first, last, etc.) to insert the PDF file.
      6. Click on the OK button .

    ~Note: Continue this process until all pages have been appended.

    Move PDF Pages

    Instructions:

    1. Open existing PDF file.
    2. Click on the Thumbnails tab (on the left margin of the screen.) This should show all the pages in the PDF file.
    3. Click and hold the page to be move and
    4. Drag the page to place in the new location. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all pages are placed in the order you want the document to read.
    5. Save the PDF file.
      1. Click on "File" from Adobe Acrobat's menu.
      2. Click on "Save" from the drop down menu.

    Embedded Fonts
    Important!
    To ensure that all fonts are included when printing to pdf files, fonts must be embedded.

    If you use the PDFwriter to create PDF files:
    From your petition software (or most any windows program):

    1. Click on File, Print and select the PDFwriter as the printer.
    2. Click on the Properties button, and click on the ‘Font Embedding’ tab and click the box for ‘Embed all fonts’.
    3. Click OK.

    ~Note: You should only have to do this once and this setting will become part of your PDFwriter defaults, to verify this just repeat the process and ensure the box is still checked.

    If you use Adobe Distiller to create PDF files:
    From your petition software (or most any windows program):

    1. Click on File, Print and select the Distiller as the printer.
    2. Click on the Properties button, and click on the ‘Adobe PDf settings’ tab and click the box for ‘Do not send fonts to Distiller’ so that the check mark goes away.
    3. Click OK.

    ~Note: You should only have to do this once and this setting will become part of your Distiller defaults, to verify this just repeat the process and verify the box is still unchecked.

    Creditor Matrix

    Instructions:
    BK 2000 petition software is used as the example in the instructions.

    1. Access the application in which your original document was created, such as BK 2000 Petition Software.
    2. Save to .txt File
      1. Click on "File" on the application's menu bar.
      2. Click on "Export" from the drop down menu.
      3. Click on "Export Address Matrix." The "Save As" dialog window appears.
      4. Name your text file.
      5. Select the directory in which you will save the text file, such as the "C:", "A: (Floppy)" drive
      6. Click on the OK button.

    Debtor Information

    BK 2000 petition software is used as the example in the instructions.

    Instructions:

    1. Access the application in which your original document was created.
    2. Save to Debtor Information text file
      1. Click on "File" on the application's menu bar.
      2. Click on "Export" from the drop down menu.
      3. Click on "Export Petition (ED Oklahoma)." The "Save Attorney Extract to disk as" dialog window appears.
      4. Name your text file 
      5. Select the directory in which you will place the text file such as the "C:", "A: (Floppy)" drive.
      6. Click on the OK button.

    File Management

    PDF's and Txt files are used when filing in CM/ECF. To locate the saved files easily the Court suggests the following:

    Document/Pleading Naming Convention

    bullet point marker We recommend when creating the document to be filed electronically, you first look on the Document Event Directory (Alpha or Category) to see if an event is available for the filing. If it's available, name the document according the document event. If an event is not available for the filing, please contact Court Info at 918.758.0126.

    File Management

    bullet point marker We recommend that you create "Folders" for each of your client's documents, while saving your filename, for easy access when browsing in ECF.

    PDF Naming Convention

    bullet point marker The court uses a naming convention which identifies the document. 
    bullet point marker We use the case number and/or the client's name and an abbreviation of the document being filed. 
    Example:
    bullet point marker 1234mtnRS = 01-1234 Motion for RS   
    bullet point marker DoeMtnRS = Client’s name Motion for RS.

    Netscape Communicator 4.0 or Explorer 5.0

    Instructions:

    1. Access Netscape Communicator (4.0) or Explorer (5.0) 
      1. Locate the Netscape or Explorer in your Program files (or a shortcut icon on your desktop, if available.) 
    2. Access the Court's Website
      1. Type: http://www.okeb.uscourts.gov in the location field. 
    3. Access the "Live" CM/ECF system 
      1. Click on "log on" hypertext link.
      2. Click on the  "Eastern District of Oklahoma - Document Filing System" hypertext link.
    4. Login to CM/ECF
      1. Enter your "Live" login and password. 
      2. ~Note: Your "Live" login and password serve as your signature for documents filed electronically.
    5. Access the CM/ECF Main Menu 
      1. Select the appropriate menu (Bankruptcy or Adversary) for the type of proceeding your document is in. 
    6. Access CM/ECF Submenu 
      1. Select the appropriate category (Motions/Applications, Notices & Hearings, File Claims, etc.) for the type of document you are filing. 
    7. Exiting CM/ECF  
      1. Click on the "X" at the top left corner of Netscape or Explorer.

    5. Access the CM/ECF Main Menu
